Weather Safety
The safety of our runners and volunteers is our top priority. If lightning, strong winds, or other dangerous weather conditions occur, anyone on the course or at the start/finish area is strongly encouraged to take immediate shelter.
If you are near one of the cabins on the course, they will be unlocked and available for shelter—please head there right away. Once the storm has passed, return to the point where you left the course before resuming. Do not take shortcuts or go off course beyond what is necessary for safety.
Because the course extends approximately 2.5 miles at its furthest point, it is not possible to immediately extract all runners or stop the race instantly. We will use a train horn to signal a weather delay or emergency, and race staff will also go out on the course to notify participants as quickly as possible.
While race management will do everything possible to communicate hazards, each runner, pacer, and volunteer is responsible for monitoring conditions and taking appropriate action to ensure their own safety.
